What Dental Implant Aftercare Looks Like at Veda Family Dentistry

After an implant placement, the first 72 hours matter most. In our West New York practice, Dr. Yoel Santiago gives every implant patient a written aftercare checklist before they leave the chair. The basics: stick to soft foods, avoid rinsing aggressively, keep the site clean with gentle saltwater rinses starting the day after surgery, and skip straws for at least a week.

We typically see patients back at one week for a soft-tissue check, then again at around three months to confirm osseointegration is progressing well. According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, implants that are properly maintained have a long-term success rate above 95 percent.
